Visas
Before You Leave
No proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results or recovery certificate
Travelers are not required to present proof of negative COVID-19 results or recovery certificates before traveling to the United States.
The CDC still recommends travelers get tested for current infection with a COVID-19 viral test maximum of 3 days before departure and not travel if they are sick.
Mandatory health declaration form before exiting the Maldives
Travelers are required to complete an online health declaration form through the IMUGA portal a maximum of 96 hours before departure from the Maldives.
Mandatory proof of vaccination for United States
Travelers are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if 2 weeks have passed since their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines, or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.
Travelers are required to be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines and receive all doses in the primary vaccination schedule.
The US government currently accepts vaccines approved or authorized for emergency use by the U.S. FDA and the WHO. Vaccines accepted are Pfizer-BioNTech (e.g., COMIRNATY/Tozinameran), AstraZeneca-Oxford (e.g., Covishield, Vaxzevria), Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), Moderna, Sinopharm BIBP, Covaxin, Sinovac-CoronaVac, Convidecia (CanSinoBIO) and Novavax/Covovax.
Any combination of 2 doses of an FDA approved/authorized or WHO emergency use listed COVID-19 2-dose series is accepted. The second dose in a 2-dose heterologous series must have been received no earlier than 17 days (21 days with a 4-day grace period) after the first dose.
For more information about accepted proof of vaccination, please check the source.
Travelers unable to present a valid certificate may be required to comply with rules for unvaccinated travelers.
This vaccination requirement doesn’t apply to the following travelers:
- Travelers under the age of 18;
- United States citizens, nationals, and permanent residents;
- Travelers with Untied States immigrant visa.
Mandatory travel attestation form
Travelers aged 2 years and older are required to complete a travel attestation form before arrival. This form will be provided by the airline.
Airlines may allow travelers to complete their attestation electronically during check-in or via partner apps such as VeriFLY. In this case, it is not necessary to print the form, but travelers may do so as a precaution.
This requirement does not apply to:
- United States nationals, permanent residents, or an immigrant (“Covered Individual”).
On Arrival
No quarantine required for vaccinated travelers
Fully vaccinated travelers are not required to quarantine on arrival in the United States.
While There
Masks are mandatory in certain settings
Travelers are required to wear a mask in indoor public settings such as health care facilities.
Face masks are no longer required for travelers on domestic flights and at U.S. airports. Some airlines may require masks on international flights.
Please note face masks may still be required based on local ordinances, or when traveling to/from certain international locations based on country requirements.
