The information on this page is applicable to people who are fully vaccinated and traveling from South Africa to Thailand.

Border Status
Travel is allowed with restrictions
Travelers are allowed to enter Thailand. Please check the documentation, quarantine, and/or testing requirements before traveling.
Transit is allowed with restrictions
Travelers are allowed to transit through Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, and Phuket International Airport as long as they stay in the "sealed route" at the airport and the transit time does not exceed 24 hours. The transit time in the case of Phuket international airport should not exceed 8 hours.
Travelers in transit are required to present:
- Travel health insurance (worldwide or including Thailand) covering health care and treatment expenses for COVID-19, or any other guarantee throughout their stay in the Kingdom, with a coverage of no less than USD $10,000.00

Before You Leave
No proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results for vaccinated travelers
Fully vaccinated travelers are not required to have a negative pre-departure COVID-19 RT-PCR test result before traveling to Thailand.
Mandatory Thailand Pass registration form
All travelers must register for the Thailand Pass online a minimum of 7 business days before departure. Travelers can apply for a Thailand Pass a maximum of 60 days before departure. Once approved, travelers must be ready to present the accompanying QR code on their mobile device or as a printed copy.
All travelers aged 18 years and older must submit an individual registration. Travelers under the age of 18 can be added to the registration of their parents.
Mandatory health insurance
Travelers are required to provide proof of medical insurance with minimum coverage of USD $10,000.00 covering COVID-19 treatment in Thailand. The policy should include in-patient hospitalization and cover the whole period of stay in Thailand.
This requirement does not apply to:
- Thai nationals and foreign expatriates under Thailand’s national healthcare coverage.
Mandatory proof of vaccination for Thailand
Fully vaccinated travelers must attach on Thailand Pass proof of having received all doses required of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Thailand's Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) or the World Health Organization (WHO). The whole course of vaccination must have been completed no less than 14 days before travel.
Travelers with a medical certificate of recovery from COVID-19 who have received 1 dose of an approved vaccine in the past 3 months of recovery and at least 14 days before travel are considered fully vaccinated.
Unaccompanied travelers aged 5-17 years old must be vaccinated with at least 1 dose of an approved vaccine.
The following vaccines are currently approved in Thailand: CoronaVac (Sinovac Biotech), Astra Zeneca (Covishield), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Janssen or Janssen, Moderna, Sinopharm, Sputnik V, Covaxin, Novavax (Nuvaxovid)/Covovax, Medigen, Turkovac/ERUCOV-VAC.
Travelers who have received two different vaccines may be considered fully vaccinated. Please check the link for more information on accepted vaccine combinations.
This requirement does not apply to:
- Travelers who present a valid medical certificate certifying the full recovery within 3 months and at least 14 days before traveling;
- Travelers under the age of 18 accompanied by vaccinated parents.
For Transit
No proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results for transit
Travelers are not required to present proof of a negative COVID-19 test result when transitting through Thailand.
On Arrival
No quarantine required for vaccinated travelers
Fully vaccinated travelers are not required to quarantine on arrival in Thailand.
Mandatory contact-tracing app
All travelers must download the MorChana application and set the application on at all times for the whole duration of their stay in Thailand. Travelers may also use the app to report their after-arrival COVID-19 test results.
Health screening on arrival
All travelers must undergo entry screening including a body temperature check on arrival in Thailand.
