Before You Leave
No proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results for vaccinated travelers
Fully vaccinated travelers arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport (Sint Maarten) are not required to provide proof of a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test result.
Travelers between 0-5 years old are also exempt from presenting a negative COVID-19 test result.
Mandatory travel authorization form
Travelers including citizens, residents, and transit travelers are required to complete health authorization applications through the Electronic Health Authorization System in order to enter Sint Maarten and St. Martin through Princess Juliana International Airport.
Travelers are encouraged to complete the application as soon as they receive their COVID-19 RT-PCR test results. Once completed and approved travelers will receive a printable authorization by email.
Processing of this application can take up to 12 hours.
Mandatory health insurance
Travelers are required to have health insurance coverage that is valid in St. Maarten. This does not apply to travelers in transit, residents, flight crews, AUC faculty and students, BES-ZVK medical referrals, and French nationals.
The insurance purchasing process is an integrated step in the EHAS application.
This requirement does not apply to:
- Transit travelers departing the same day;
- French nationals residing in France or a French territory.
Mandatory proof of vaccination for Sint Maarten
Fully vaccinated travelers must upload their proof of vaccination status in EHAS.
Fully vaccinated travelers must have received a full course of vaccination with an accepted vaccine. The accepted 2 dose vaccines are Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Sinovac/Coronavac, and Covishield. The accepted 1 dose vaccine is Janssen/Johnson & Johnson. Travelers that have received the second dose in a 2-dose series combination of a single dose of Pfizer or Moderna with a single dose of Astra Zeneca are also considered fully vaccinated. Travelers must have received their last dose at least 14 days before arrival.
Travelers are also considered fully vaccinated after receiving a single dose of an approved vaccine 14 days before their arrival if they have had a confirmed COVID-19 infection a maximum of 6 months before receiving their vaccination. The recovery from COVID-19 must be stated on their proof of vaccination in the absence of a digital COVID-19 infection certificate.
Travelers are also considered fully vaccinated after recovering from COVID-19 a maximum of 9 months before departure if they can provide one of the following:
- Government/public health authority issued proof of recovery (digital COVID-19 recovery certificate or letter);
- Lab-issued positive COVID-19 PCR test result indicating a Ct value of 35 or higher;
- Signed and stamped COVID-19 recovery letter from a physician accompanied by a positive COVID-19 PCR test result indicating a Ct value of 35 or higher.

On Arrival
Quarantine may be required
All incoming passengers arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport (Sint Maarten) are subjected to temperature checks and other screening protocols and may be subjected to mandatory testing at their own expense. If re-tested upon arrival, travelers will be expected to self-quarantine at their place of lodging or residence until the test results are known.
Mandatory self-monitoring
Travelers arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport (Sint Maarten) are required to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 for 5 days. Travelers will receive a daily email alert providing a link for submitting the required information online.
Travelers who stay in the island for less than 5 days will have to submit the information for the time of their stay on the island.
