Entry restricted for unvaccinated travelers
Unvaccinated travelers are not allowed to enter Papua New Guinea.
Entry restrictions do not apply to:
- Citizens and residents of Papua New Guinea;
- Fully vaccinated travelers with proof of vaccination certificate;
- Travelers under the age of 18.

No proof of a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test required
Travelers are not required to have a negative COVID-19 test result before traveling to Papua New Guinea.
On Arrival
Mandatory COVID-19 test on arrival
All travelers must take a COVID-19 test upon arrival. If negative, travelers do not have to quarantine. If positive, they must immediately quarantine for 7 days at the traveler’s expense.
This requirement does not apply to:
- Travelers under the age of 5.
No quarantine required
Travelers are not required to quarantine on arrival in Papua New Guinea.
Different requirements apply to travelers who test positive on arrival. These travelers must quarantine for 7 days in a government-approved hotel on arrival in Papua New Guinea (at the traveler’s own cost) or at their residence if they are eligible for home-based quarantine.
Children under the age of 18 years who travel with a parent or guardian will be subject to the same requirements as their parent or guardian.
