Mandatory proof of vaccination for New Zealand

Travelers are required to show proof of vaccination when traveling to New Zealand.

Travelers must have had a full course of an approved COVID-19 vaccine. Any vaccine that has been approved by at least 1 government health authority or approval authority is approved for entry into New Zealand. A full course of some of the approved vaccines is 1 dose only. Travelers can have a combination of different vaccines if that combination is an approved course in the country they received them. Each of the vaccines must be on the list of approved vaccines.

The last vaccine dose must be administered at least 14 days before arrival in New Zealand.

  • New Zealand resident class visa holders;
  • Australian citizens who live in New Zealand;
  • Travelers under the age of 17;

Mandatory New Zealand Travel Declaration

All travelers must complete the New Zealand Traveler Declaration before departure to New Zealand.

Travelers can start the New Zealand Traveler Declaration 28 days before departure. Once travelers have completed their declaration and have uploaded their proof of COVID-19 vaccination, and/or other documents their New Zealand Traveler Declaration can be submitted. Travelers will receive a Traveler Pass once approved, and the Traveler Pass will have a QR code. Travelers will be asked to show their Traveler Pass at check-in by their airline and again at Customs on arrival in New Zealand. The Traveler Pass can be printed or saved to a mobile device.

When completing the New Zealand Traveler Declaration, travelers are required to provide their contact and passport details, flight number, travel history, and vaccination status, and declare they are aware of the quarantine and testing requirements that apply to them when traveling to New Zealand.

Travelers are required to complete a New Zealand Traveler Declaration. This includes citizens and permanent residents including children and infants. It also includes New Zealanders returning to the country from short holidays.
