Travel is allowed with restrictions for vaccinated travelers
Fully vaccinated travelers arriving are allowed to enter New Zealand. Before traveling, please check the documentation, quarantine, and/or testing requirements.
Transit is allowed
International travelers are allowed to transit through Auckland International Airport.
Transit travelers are required to: -Stay in the transit area of the airport or on board the aircraft, for less than 24 hours; -Have a valid visa or eTA.

Before You Leave
No proof of a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test required
Travelers are not required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result before traveling to New Zealand.
Mandatory proof of vaccination for New Zealand
Travelers are required to show proof of vaccination when traveling to New Zealand.
Travelers must have had a full course of an approved COVID-19 vaccine. Any vaccine that has been approved by at least 1 government health authority or approval authority is approved for entry into New Zealand. A full course of some of the approved vaccines is 1 dose only. Travelers can have a combination of different vaccines if that combination is an approved course in the country they received them. Each of the vaccines must be on the list of approved vaccines.
The last vaccine dose must be administered at least 14 days before arrival in New Zealand.

This requirement does not apply to:
- New Zealand resident class visa holders;
- Australian citizens who live in New Zealand;
- Travelers under the age of 17;
- Travelers that cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons;
- Travelers with a visa under the 2022 Special Ukraine Visa Policy traveling to New Zealand for the first time or who are or were residing in Ukraine on or after 1 January 2022;
- Refugees.
Mandatory New Zealand Travel Declaration
All travelers must complete the New Zealand Traveler Declaration before departure to New Zealand.
Travelers can start the New Zealand Traveler Declaration 28 days before departure. Once travelers have completed their declaration and have uploaded their proof of COVID-19 vaccination, and/or other documents their New Zealand Traveler Declaration can be submitted. Travelers will receive a Traveler Pass once approved, and the Traveler Pass will have a QR code. Travelers will be asked to show their Traveler Pass at check-in by their airline and again at Customs on arrival in New Zealand. The Traveler Pass can be printed or saved to a mobile device.
When completing the New Zealand Traveler Declaration, travelers are required to provide their contact and passport details, flight number, travel history, and vaccination status, and declare they are aware of the quarantine and testing requirements that apply to them when traveling to New Zealand.
Travelers are required to complete a New Zealand Traveler Declaration. This includes citizens and permanent residents including children and infants. It also includes New Zealanders returning to the country from short holidays.

For Transit
No proof of a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test required for transit
Travelers with flight connections in New Zealand are exempt from the COVID-19 test requirement as long as they remain in the international departure area.
On Arrival
Mandatory COVID-19 test on arrival
Travelers are required to take 2 COVID-19 rapid antigen tests on arrival. The first test must be taken on day 0 or 1 after arrival, and the second test must be taken on day 5 or 6 after arrival.
Travelers will be provided with a pack of COVID-19 rapid antigen tests with instructions on arrival.

- Travelers under 6 months old;
- Travelers arriving on direct flights from Niue to New Zealand.
Quarantine may be required
Travelers with positive COVID-19 RAT test results on arrival are required to take a COVID-19 PCR test to confirm the result. If the PCR test is positive, travelers must quarantine for 7 days at their own place.
If the COVID-19 PCR test is negative, travelers are not required to quarantine on arrival in New Zealand.
