Mandatory proof of vaccination for Italy
Fully vaccinated travelers must have proof of having received the full course of vaccination with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency, a minimum of 14 days before travel, and a maximum of 270 days (9 months) before traveling to Italy. The vaccine proof must be written in Italian, English, French, or Spanish.
As of this time, the vaccination certificates with booster dose or recovery from COVID-19 after a complete primary vaccination cycle or with booster dose do not have a predetermined validity.
Stricter rules around proof of vaccination may apply to the country’s health pass; be sure to read all regulations for a full understanding of vaccination requirements for travel to Italy.
Vaccines accepted are Comirnaty by Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca), Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), Nuvaxovid (Novavax), Covishield (Serum Institute of India) (AstraZeneca), R-CoVI (R-Pharm) (AstraZeneca), and COVID-19 vaccine-recombinant (Fiocruz) (AstraZeneca). Those who took a different vaccine as a second shot are considered fully vaccinated.
Travelers who are eligible for the EU Digital COVID-19 Certificate or equivalent may use it to present proof. United Kingdom's proof of COVID-19 recovery and vaccination certificate is also accepted. The US CDC white card is considered equivalent to the Italian Green Pass where required.
Please check the source for more details.
This requirement does not apply to:
- Travelers under the age of 6;
- Travelers with valid proof of recovery from COVID-19. The certificate of recovery is valid for 180 days from the date of the first positive swab test.
