Transit through Hong Kong International Airport is allowed
Travelers can transit through Hong Kong International Airport. Travelers in transit must have an onward flight ticket or boarding pass that confirms departure a maximum of 24 hours after the scheduled arrival time in Hong Kong. Baggage must also be tagged through to the onward destination. Travelers must confirm in advance that they can enter the final destination.
Before You Leave
Proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results is required
Travelers must have a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test (RAT) result (which can be self-administered or by professional swab sampling) or a polymerase chain reaction-based nucleic acid test result. Travelers must take the RAT test a maximum of 24 hours or a PCR test a maximum of 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of the last flight to Hong Kong SAR. Travelers can include negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results in the health declaration form. Travelers must keep the photos of the negative test results or the test report.

This testing requirement doesn’t apply to the following travelers:
- Travelers under the age of 4.
- A Pcr Test Up To 48 hours Before Final Boarding
- An Antigen Test Up To 24 hours Before Final Boarding
Recommended health declaration form
All travelers are recommended to complete a health declaration form before arrival in Hong Kong. Travelers can include proof of COVID-19 vaccination and the negative pre-departure COVID-19 rapid antigen (RAT) test or a polymerase chain reaction-based nucleic acid test (PCR) results in the form. After submitting the online form, the system will generate a QR code valid for 96 hours.
Mandatory proof of COVID-19 vaccination for Hong Kong SAR
Fully vaccinated travelers must have a valid proof of having received the last dose of the vaccine at least 14 days before travel. The vaccine must be issued in English or Chinese by Hong Kong or by relevant authorities or recognized institutions of the places where the vaccines were administered. Travelers must include proof of COVID-19 vaccination in the health declaration form.
The vaccination certificate must include the name of the traveler, the date on which the last dose was administered, the name of the vaccine, or the name of the marketing authorization holder or manufacturer of the vaccine. For more details, please check the source.
Travelers aged 12-17 years who have received 1 dose of the Comirnaty vaccine at least 14 days before travel is considered fully vaccinated.
Travelers who have recovered from COVID-19 and have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days before arrival in Hong Kong SAR are considered fully vaccinated.
Travelers with access to the EU Digital COVID Certificate may use it as proof.
This vaccination requirement doesn’t apply to the following travelers:
- Travelers under the age of 12;
- Travelers who are unfit for vaccination due to health reasons with relevant proof issued by a medical practitioner;
- Hong Kong citizens.

For Transit
Proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results is not required for transit
Travelers don’t need a negative COVID-19 test result when transiting through Hong Kong SAR.
On Arrival
Recommended COVID-19 testing after arrival
Travelers are recommended to take a daily COVID-19 rapid antigen test (RAT) from the day of arrival in Hong Kong until Day 5 after arrival in Hong Kong.
Travelers can report daily RAT results and health status via the ”Electronic COVID-19 Medical Surveillance System” (eCMSS) during the self-monitoring period.
Quarantine is not required
Travelers don’t need to quarantine on arrival in Hong Kong.
Health screening on arrival
All travelers must pass a temperature screening on arrival in Hong Kong. Travelers with a high temperature will undergo further checks.

Masks are mandatory in public
Travelers must wear masks in all public places, including on public transportation and in airports.
