Travelers are allowed to enter Eritrea by air. All land borders are currently closed. Please check the documentation, quarantine, and/or testing requirements before traveling.
Exiting Saudi Arabia: Travel is allowed for vaccinated Saudi Arabian citizens
Fully vaccinated Saudi citizens are required to provide valid proof of vaccination before departure from Saudi Arabia. They must have received a booster dose if 3 months have passed from receiving a second dose.
This requirement does not apply to:
- Saudi Arabian citizens under the age of 16.

Proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results
Travelers, regardless of whether fully vaccinated or not, must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result. The test must be taken a maximum of 72 hours before arrival in Eritrea.

Vaccinated travelers must have valid proof that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Travelers departing from Saudi Arabia require proof of vaccination
Saudi citizens departing from Saudi must have proof that they have been fully vaccinated.
Citizens are considered to be fully vaccinated if:
- They have received a booster dose if more than 3 months have passed since their final dose;
- They have received their final dose, and no more than 3 months have passed.
This requirement does not apply to:
- Saudi Arabian citizens under the age of 16;
- Children (foreigners) under the age of 12 years; however, must have a valid health insurance policy approved by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) to cover the risks of COVID-19.
- Travelers (foreigners) whose status in Tawakkalna appears as “exempted” from the COVID-19 vaccine are to be treated equally as those whose status in Tawakkalna appears as IMMUNE.
On Arrival
Mandatory COVID-19 test on arrival
Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 rapid antigen test on arrival in Eritrea.
Quarantine may be required for vaccinated travelers
Fully vaccinated travelers are required to take a COVID-19 rapid antigen test on arrival. Travelers who test positive are required to 14 days quarantine at a government-approved hotel at their own expense.
