Border Status
Travel is allowed with restrictions
Travelers are allowed to enter Egypt. Please check the documentation, quarantine, and/or testing requirements before traveling.
Transit is allowed
Travelers are allowed to transit through Egypt by air.
Most transit travelers are required to:
- Stay in the airport; travelers that do intend to leave the airport must follow the standard entry procedures.

No proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results required for vaccinated travelers
Fully vaccinated travelers with a valid vaccination certificate recognized by the Egyptian government are not required to have a negative COVID-19 test result.
Travelers unable to present valid proof of vaccination with a QR code, or proof of vaccination certified and approved by the Egyptian embassy in the country of departure are required to comply with the rules for unvaccinated travelers. This requirement does not apply to:
- Travelers in transit;
- Travelers under the age of 12.
Health insurance may be required
Travelers must have valid health insurance for the period of their intended stay in Egypt to airport authorities.
Mandatory health declaration form
All travelers, regardless of age, are required to complete a digital health declaration before departure.
Travelers are required to provide their contact and passport details, travel itinerary, and upload their proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results or proof of vaccination.
Upon completing the form travelers will be provided a QR code to show to their airline at check-in, and to Egyptian Quarantine Authorities on arrival.
Travelers who experience issues with completing forms online can fill out the form on arrival in Egypt.
Mandatory proof of vaccination for Egypt
Fully vaccinated travelers must have a vaccination certificate proving they have received all required doses of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before travel.
Vaccines accepted by Egypt are AstraZeneca, Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm, Sinovac, or Sputnik V.
The certificate must be in Arabic, French, or English and it must be printed and have a QR code or be certified and approved by the Egyptian embassy in the country of departure.
Travelers who are unable to present valid proof of vaccination with a QR code or proof of vaccination certified and approved by the Egyptian embassy in the country of departure are required to comply with the rules for unvaccinated travelers.
Travelers departing from Canadian airports require proof of vaccination
All travelers departing from Canada via air, rail, or cruise ships need to be fully vaccinated. This requirement applies to all travelers aged 12 years plus 4 months and older. This requirement applies to international and domestic departures.
Fully vaccinated travelers must have received a full course of vaccination with an accepted vaccine. The accepted 2 dose vaccines are:
- AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD (ChAdOx1-S, Vaxzevria, AZD1222);
- Bharat Biotech (Covaxin, BBV152 A, B, C);
- Medicago Covifenz;
- Novavax (NVX-COV2373, Nuvaxovid, Covovax);
- Moderna (mRNA-1273);
- Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2);
- Sinopharm BIBP (BBIBP-CorV);
- Sinovac (CoronaVac, PiCoVacc).
The accepted 1 dose vaccine is:
- Janssen/Johnson & Johnson.
Travelers that have received a combination of 2 accepted vaccines are considered fully vaccinated. Travelers must have received their last dose at least 14 days before arrival.
Travelers who fail to comply, refuse, or provide untruthful information on this measure, may be subject to a penalty or a fine.

On Arrival
No quarantine required
Travelers are not required to quarantine on arrival.
