Description

Fully vaccinated travelers must have a vaccination certificate in English, French, or certified translation. Travelers must upload certificates digitally into the ArriveCAN app and contain all required details.

Fully vaccinated travelers must have received a full vaccination course with an accepted vaccine. The accepted 2-dose vaccines are:

  • AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD (ChAdOx1-S, Vaxzevria, AZD1222);
  • Bharat Biotech (Covaxin, BBV152 A, B, C);
  • Medicago Covifenz;
  • Moderna (mRNA-1273);
  • Novavax (NVX-COV2373, Nuvaxovid, Covovax);
  • Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2);
  • Sinopharm BIBP (BBIBP-CorV);
  • Sinovac (CoronaVac, PiCoVacc).

The accepted 1 dose vaccine is:

  • Janssen/Johnson & Johnson.

Travelers that have received a combination of 2 accepted vaccines are considered fully vaccinated. Travelers must have received their last dose at least 14 days before arrival.

Travelers who have recovered from COVID-19 are still required to have a full course of one of the approved vaccines to be considered fully vaccinated.

Travelers unable to present a valid certificate or who do not adhere may be required to comply with the requirements for unvaccinated travelers or may be liable to a monetary penalty.

Fully vaccinated travelers must upload proof of COVID-19 vaccination and submit contact information and travel details. Travelers must also complete a COVID-19 “self-assessment” a maximum of 72 hours before arrival. Travelers must submit information digitally through the ArriveCAN app.

Travelers who fail to comply, or provide untruthful information, such as vaccination status, may be subject to a penalty or a fine.

More Details

Anyone who cannot submit the information through the app because of a disability or “inadequate infrastructure” must contact the government using a toll-free telephone number before starting their trip.

Description

Vaccinated travelers may be randomly selected for the border testing surveillance program on arrival in Canada which will be held outside of airports.

Travelers who qualify as fully vaccinated and who are selected for mandatory random testing will receive an email notification within 15 minutes of completing their customs declaration. The email will contain information to help them arrange for their COVID-19 test with a testing provider in their region.

Travelers who test COVID-19 positive must quarantine for 10 days from the date of the test result. A 10-day quarantine is required, even if the quarantine requirement is shorter in their province or territory.
