Before You Leave
Proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test result is required
Travelers arriving from selected countries on a direct flight or on a flight that has a stopover in another country before landing in Australia must have a negative COVID-19 NAAT (including PCR) or rapid antigen test result. Travelers must take the test a maximum of 48 hours before departure to Australia. Please see the source for more details.
This testing requirement doesn’t apply to the following travelers:
- Travelers under the age of 12;
- Travelers have evidence from a medical practitioner in the last 30 days that they have a medical condition preventing them from undertaking a COVID-19 test;
- Travelers with evidence from a medical practitioner of a COVID-19 infection in the last 30 days, including confirmation that they are no longer infectious or symptomatic, and the day of the first positive test result (which must be at least 7 days before the date of the medical certificate).
- An Antigen Test Up To 48 hours Before Departure
- A Nucleic Acid Test Up To 48 hours Before Departure
- A Pcr Test Up To 48 hours Before Departure
Mandatory health declaration form before exiting China
All travelers exiting mainland China must submit a health declaration form online or via WeChat. Travelers must declare their health information a maximum of 24 hours before their exit.
To make the declaration with WeChat, travelers should search for “passenger fingertip service” within the app. Once the declaration is complete, a QR code will be generated, which can be scanned by immigration.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is not required for Australia
Travelers don’t need proof of COVID-19 vaccination before traveling to Australia.
For Transit
Proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results is not required for transit
Travelers transiting through Australia and traveling directly to an onward destination don’t need a negative COVID-19 test result before transiting through Australia.
On Arrival
Quarantine is not required
Travelers don’t need to quarantine on arrival in Australia.
While There
Masks are not required in public
Travelers don’t need to wear masks in public places.
