Fully vaccinated travelers must show proof of having received all doses of the vaccine before travel. Travelers can also show proof of past infection, and 1 vaccination dose, received at least 22 days before travel. Travelers who do not have proof of vaccination in German or English must use the Austrian government official health certificate in either language to certify vaccination. Vaccines recognized to enter Austria are BioNTech/Pfizer, AstraZeneca (Covishield), Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Sinovac, and Sinopharm.

  • Travelers are allowed to enter if they have received mix-and-match vaccines.
  • Sinovac and Sinopharm are not valid for entering hotels, restaurants within Austria.

Travelers have the option to present proof via EU Digital Certificate.

More Details

Until December 6th, the vaccine certificate is valid for 360 days after the 2nd dose for 2-dose vaccines. For travelers with past infection and 1 dose of vaccine, the certificate is valid for 360 days after that 1 dose. If the traveler has had a third (additional, booster) vaccine, the certificate is valid for 360 days from the third vaccine. For vaccines that require only 1 dose, the certificate is valid from the 22nd day for 270 days from vaccination.

Until December 6, 2021, travelers who are partially vaccinated with 1 dose may also use a negative COVID-19 PCR test to enter hospitality businesses and events.

This requirement does not apply to:

  • Travelers under the age of 12;
  • In Vienna, travelers under the age of 6;
  • In Vienna, travelers aged 6-11 are required to take a COVID-19 PCR test a maximum of 72 hours, or an antigen test from an official body taken a maximum of 48 hours.

Travelers aged between 12-15 years are required to take a COVID-19 PCR test a maximum of 48 hours.
