Entry restricted for international travelers
Most travelers are not allowed to enter Papua New Guinea. Travelers must have a written entry exemption, a valid visa and most travelers must be fully vaccinated in order to be allowed entry.
Entry restrictions do not apply to:
- Citizens and residents of Papua New Guinea.
Before You Leave
Proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results
Travelers must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result. The test must be taken a maximum of 72 hours before boarding from their original point of origin.
This requirement does not apply to:
- Travelers aged 5 years and younger.
- A Pcr Test Up To 72 hours Before Departure
Mandatory travel declaration form
Travelers must complete the air passenger travel form before traveling to Papua New Guinea.
Mandatory proof of vaccination
Travelers must have a valid vaccination certificate showing that they received a full course of vaccination depending on the vaccine used.
Fully vaccinated travelers should receive 2 doses of one of the following: Oxford-AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Sinopharm-BBIBP, CoronaVac Sinovac vaccines, or 1 dose of Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
This does not apply to:
- travelers under the age of 18,
- travelers with valid proof of medical exemption
Mandatory health declaration form
Travelers are required to submit an online electronic health declaration a maximum of 24 hours before departure to PNG. Travelers must save the barcode as evidence of submission.
Mandatory travel authorization
Travelers must receive timely approval from the Papua New Guinea embassy in order to travel. Travelers must submit all their documents to the National Control Centre Travel Desk at [email protected].

Mandatory COVID-19 test on arrival
All travelers must take a COVID-19 test upon arrival. If negative, travelers do not have to quarantine. If positive, they must immediately quarantine for 14 days at the traveler’s expense.
