U.S. citizens with residency in Costa Rica who are not up to date with Caja payments will still be allowed to enter but will be required to become up to date with all payments in the last 22 days. Persons in this category must also purchase health insurance to cover the cost of any COVID-19 treatment or lodging for the 22-day grace period.

Fully vaccinated travelers must have proof that they have been fully vaccinated with any of the following vaccines: Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, or Johnson & Johnson. Travelers must have completed the final dose of the vaccine at least 14 days before their departure to Costa Rica.

Travelers that have received a combination of two different vaccines may still be considered fully vaccinated. Please check the link for more information on accepted vaccine combinations.
