Description

Travelers, regardless of their vaccination status, must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR (or similar NAAT) test result. The test must be taken a maximum of 72 hours before the first departure to Portugal. Alternatively, travelers can have a laboratory antigen test (TRAg) taken a maximum of 48 hours before departure to Portugal. Only antigen tests acceptable by the European Union Health Committee are accepted for travel. The results must be in Portuguese, French, English, Spanish, or Italian and may be presented in paper or digital format.

This testing requirement includes travelers in transit.

Different rules may apply to travelers going to the Azores or Madeira. Please check the source for more details.

This requirement does not apply to:

  • Travelers under the age of 12.
  • Travelers with a valid certificate of recovery demonstrated via the EU Digital COVID Certificate;
  • Travelers with a valid certificate of recovery issued not earlier than 11 days but not later than 180 days by Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Switzerland, El Salvador, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Israel, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Monaco, Morocco, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Panama, San Marino, Serbia, Singapore, Togo, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Vatican City.

Travelers who are fully vaccinated must present a valid vaccination certificate. Travelers must have received all doses required of the vaccine, including a combination of two different vaccines, at least 14 days before travel.

Vaccine certificates issued by third countries are accepted under reciprocal conditions, and the vaccines must be approved by EMA (Janssen, AstraZeneca/Vaxzevria, Moderna/Spikevax, Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty, Novavax/Nuvaxovid).

Currently, recovery certificates from Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Switzerland, El Salvador, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Israel, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Monaco, Morocco, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Panama, San Marino, Serbia, Singapore, Togo, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Vatican City are accepted under reciprocity.

Travelers with access to the EU Digital Certificate, non-EU countries with certificates accepted by the EU Digital COVID Certificate system, or NHS COVID Pass may use it to present proof. The US CDC card is not accepted.

Travelers unable to present a valid certificate are required to comply with rules for unvaccinated travelers.
