Entry restricted for international travelers
Most travelers are not allowed to enter or transit through Vietnam including travelers with a Vietnamese visa exemption certificate.
The Vietnamese government continues to allow pre-approved citizens, foreigners, and their families in exempted categories, including diplomats, officials, experts, business managers, foreign investors, high-tech workers, and other business travelers to enter Vietnam.
Transit is restricted
Travelers are not allowed to transit through Vietnam.
Before You Leave
Proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results before exiting Sierra Leone
Departing travelers must book a test on the government online portal. The test must be a COVID-19 PCR test taken a maximum of 72 hours before departure from Sierra Leone.
This requirement does not apply to:
- Travelers under the age of 2;
- Travelers staying for 5 days or less.

Travelers must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result. The test must be taken a maximum of 72 hours before arrival in Vietnam.

Mandatory proof of vaccination
Fully vaccinated travelers must present a valid vaccination certificate showing that they received 2 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. The last dose must be taken at least 14 days and no more than 12 months before arrival in Vietnam.
Vietnam accepts vaccines from third countries based on reciprocity agreements. Please check the link for a full list of countries from which the vaccine certificates are accepted.
Mandatory health declaration form
All travelers are required to fill out a health declaration form on arrival or a digital form online before their trip.
Screen capture of the completed form must be presented at check-in before boarding. The e-health declaration forms must be completed a maximum of 24 hours before departure. Travelers should contact their airlines directly for more information.
Mandatory health insurance
Travelers are required to have medical or travel insurance with minimum coverage of $50,000 covering COVID-19 treatment in Vietnam.
Mandatory 3-day quarantine for vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers are required to quarantine for 3 days at home or their places of accommodation.
