Most international travelers are not allowed to enter Uruguay. Travelers looking for an exemption from the entry ban must have the proper documentation and a valid reason.

Entry restrictions do not apply to:

  • Uruguayan citizens;
  • Travelers with resident status;
  • Travelers who can enter Uruguay as long as they have the proper documentation are travelers with business, economic, judicial, humanitarian, diplomatic, work, or family reasons.

Travelers must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result. The test must be taken a maximum of 72 hours before departure.

More Details

This requirement does not apply to:

  • Travelers under the age of 6;
  • Travelers who recovered from COVID-19, and who have proof of a positive test result from an antigen or RT-PCR test that was taken between 20 and 90 days before traveling.
