Entry into Hungary From El Salvador is Restricted

Description

Most travelers arriving from selected countries are not allowed to enter Hungary.

More Details

The travel restrictions do not apply to:

  • Hungarian citizens and permanent residents;
  • Close family members of citizens or residents;
  • Valid Hungarian resident permit holders where the permit was issued for a stay of more than 90 days;
  • Military and diplomats;
  • Transit passengers;
  • Foreign nationals entering Hungary for business purposes, and representatives of foreign companies with a stake in Hungary may enter the country without restrictions.

Requests for exemptions from the entry ban can be submitted via an electronic form with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Proof of negative COVID-19 test results to shorten quarantine

Description

Travelers may take their first COVID-19 test to shorten their quarantine outside of Hungary. The test must be a COVID-19 PCR test taken in a Schengen country, the United States, or Canada. The test must be taken a maximum of 48 hours before arrival.

Travelers have the option to present proof via EU Digital Certificate.

Foreign students will have to produce negative tests before departure to be allowed to study in Hungary.

  • Fully vaccinated travelers with a certificate issued by the EU, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Romania, Bahrain, Turkey, Mongolia, Czechia, Northern Macedonia, Georgia, Albania, Ukraine, Morocco, Moldova, Slovakia, Austria, and Kazakhstan.

Travelers may be exempted from the 10-day quarantine policy if they are able to provide 2 negative COVID-19 tests taken at least 48 hours apart, both of which taken within 5 days after their arrival in Hungary. However, it is also acceptable if the 1st of the 2 tests, is performed in a Schengen country, the United States of America or Canada.

Foreign students will have to produce negative tests before departure to be allowed to study in Hungary.

Travelers will undergo a medical examination on arrival. If they show symptoms they will be quarantined at a government facility for 10 days. If they show no symptoms they will be required to quarantine at home for 10 days.
