Travelers are required to have a valid electronic COVID-19 full vaccination certificate to enter Malawi. Arriving travelers unable to show an electronic vaccination certificate at the point of entry shall be expected to access COVID-19 vaccines for free at the point of entry before being allowed to enter or re-enter Malawi.

Travelers unable to produce a valid vaccination certificate and who refuse to access the vaccines offered at the point of entry will be required to undergo institutional quarantine for 10 days at their cost.

Proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results

Description

Travelers must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from a test taken a maximum of 72 hours before arrival in Malawi.

Travelers can show proof via Trusted Travel Africa's CDC COVID-19 digital certificate. Otherwise, they can register with Global Haven.

All COVID-19 test certificates must be in English or translated into English. Any certificate that is not in English will be considered invalid and the traveler will be tested at their own cost and will be required to self-quarantine until the results of a new test are known.

Travelers who are unable to provide a valid negative pre-departure COVID-19 PCR test result on arrival will be required to take a COVID-19 rapid antigen test on arrival at the airport at their own cost. Travelers with a positive Rapid Antigen Test will be subjected to an additional COVID-19 PCR test at the traveler’s expense, then conveyed to the District Health System where they will be managed according to standard national protocols.
