Exiting Australia into United Kingdom is Restricted

Description

Most Australian citizens and permanent residents are not allowed to travel internationally unless they have an exemption.

Temporary visa holders in Australia can depart Australia at any time, however, they will generally not be permitted to return.

Australians can not travel to India unless it is for very urgent circumstances only.

More Details

If travelers want to leave Australia, they may apply online for an exemption to travel if they fall into one of the following categories:

  • Travel is as part of the response to the COVID-19 outbreak, including the provision of aid;
  • Travel is for the traveler's business or employer;
  • To receive urgent medical treatment that is not available in Australia;
  • Travel is for a compelling reason for three months or longer;
  • Travel is on compassionate or humanitarian grounds;
  • Travel is in the national interest.

Description

Travelers from selected countries that are Green listed or Amber listed who do not have a travel history in selected countries that are Red listed during the 10 days prior to their arrival are allowed to enter the United Kingdom. Please check the documentation, quarantine and/or testing requirements for your specific destination before traveling.

The entry restrictions do not apply to:

  • British nationals;
  • Irish nationals;
  • Travelers with residence rights in the UK.

Proof of negative COVID-19 test results

Description

Travelers must have a valid negative COVID-19 (NAAT: PCR or LAMP, or antigen) test result in English, French, or Spanish. The test must be taken within 3 days before departure of the last direct flight to the United Kingdom. The antigen test should meet at least 97% specificity and 80% sensitivity.

This requirement applies to all travelers including United Kingdom citizens, residents and all transit passengers.

More Details

Travelers exempted from this restriction are:

  • Travelers from the Common Travel Area (the United Kingdom, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, and Guernsey), Ascension, Falkland Islands, St Helena, Myanmar;
  • Travelers to the UK for urgent medical treatment or with a documented medical condition that means they can not take the test;
  • Travelers under the age of 11.

Description

Travelers, including transit passengers, are required to complete a public health passenger locator form online before departure to the UK. The form must be submitted within 48 hours before arrival in the UK. Travelers must show either a printed copy or an online copy of the form on their phone at the UK border.

Travellers do not have to fill out the form if they’re travelling from one of the following places, and they were there for 14 days or more:

  • Ireland;
  • the Channel Islands;
  • the Isle of Man;
  • United Kingdom.
