Fully vaccinated travelers arriving from selected countries are required to have a negative pre-travel COVID-19 RT-PCR test result. The test must be taken a maximum of 48 hours before arrival.

Travelers arriving without a negative pre-travel COVID-19 test result will be required to comply with the mandatory quarantine requirement.

Fully vaccinated travelers and travelers with valid proof of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 180 days, arriving from selected countries with a negative pre-departure COVID-19 RT-PCR test result are not required to quarantine on arrival. The test must be taken a maximum of 48 hours before arrival.

Travelers without negative pre-travel COVID-19 RT-PCR test results are required to quarantine at home for 14 days.

  • Travelers under the age of 12;
  • Travelers between the age of 12–16 years, who present a negative COVID-19 test certificate;
  • Travelers who stay in Romania for less than 72h, with a negative COVID-19 PCR test result, from the test taken a maximum of 72h before departure, such as in transit, or cross-border workers.

Travelers are required to have the European Union Digital COVID Certificate, a Romanian-issued “Digital Green Certificate/Green Pass”, or valid proof of vaccination, recovery from COVID-19 in the past 180 days, or a negative COVID-19 test to access many public locations and to participate in certain activities. Locations that require proof include indoor or outdoor seated dining at restaurants, accessing hotels and B&Bs, shopping malls, museums, exhibitions, cultural sites, non-essential stores, swimming pools, gyms, and other venues.

The Green Pass is not required for locations that provide essential services, such as food stores, pharmacies with direct access, or religious services.
