Description

Most international travelers are not allowed to enter or transit through mainland China.

Travelers who transit through a third country on their way to China must receive a new health code in that country and repeat their pre-departure COVID-19 tests. Travelers should avoid traveling on indirect flights to China and must check with their local Chinese embassy or consulate if direct flights are not available.

Proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results

Description

Travelers must have negative COVID-19 RT-PCR nucleic acid test results and IgM antibody tests. The tests must be taken a maximum of 48 hours, of the scheduled time before departure of the flight to mainland China.

Vaccinated travelers may receive positive results for their IgM antibody tests. Please verify with your local embassy any additional procedures required for vaccinated travelers.

Travelers must apply for a green health QR code with the "HS" mark (for Chinese nationals) or "HDC" mark (for foreign nationals), or a certified health declaration form from the Chinese consulate in the country of origin before boarding the flight. Alternatively, travelers may get their code online.

Mandatory health declaration form before arrival

Description

All travelers entering mainland China are required to submit a health declaration form, which can be done with an online form or via WeChat. Travelers are required to declare their health information a maximum of 24 hours before their entry.

Alternatively, the China Customs mobile app can be used for nationalities where WeChat is not available.

To make the declaration with WeChat, travelers should search for "passenger fingertip service" within the app. Once the declaration is complete a QR code will be generated which can be scanned by immigration.

While most public transportation services are operational between most routes, train services are currently operating at reduced capacity. Passengers can expect temperature checks and health screenings at transportation hubs. QR codes and health kit apps should be downloaded prior to travel. Inter-regional travel remains restricted in some parts of China and passengers may be required to undergo a 14-day quarantine when entering or leaving a high-risk area. Quarantine is enforced on a neighborhood level and procedures vary depending on the severity of the outbreak. Proof of a negative NAT test may also be required when entering or leaving a high-risk area.
