Fully vaccinated travelers with valid proof of COVID-19 vaccination and travelers with valid proof of recovery from COVID-19 are not required to have a negative COVID-19 test result before traveling to Bulgaria.

Travelers unable to present a valid certificate recognized by the Bulgarian Government will be required to comply with rules for unvaccinated travelers. Please see our Mandatory Proof of Vaccination details on accepted certificates.

Mandatory proof of vaccination or proof of recovery

Description

Travelers who are fully vaccinated must have a vaccination certificate accepted by the Bulgarian authorities. Travelers must have received all the vaccine doses required (1 or 2 doses, depending on the vaccine) at least 14 days before traveling to Bulgaria. Also accepted is a combination of 1 dose of Vaxzevria/AZD1222 with 1 of Comirnaty/BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech).

Bulgaria also accepts proof via the EU Digital Covid Certificate.

Travelers that have recovered from COVID-19 may present a document similar to the EU COVID Digital Certificate of illness instead of proof of vaccination. The document must show the traveler has suffered from COVID-19 and is valid from the 11th to the 180th day from the date of test date on the document. For more details please check the source.

Although restrictions are gradually lifting, they may be re-introduced at any time and preventative health measures remain encouraged. A COVID Certificate (EU Digital Certificate) as proof of vaccination, negative testing, or previous recovery is required to access most facilities and establishments or to attend events. Most mass events remain suspended and private gatherings remain restricted to 15 people indoors and 30 people outdoors.
